Houston steel pipe magnate Jerry Fields and wife, Linda, have given another $1 million to Texas State University, where he graduated in 1969.
The university’s president, Denise M. Trauth, is expected to announce the donation at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the ballroom of the LBJ Student Center. The latest gift goes to the athletic department.
The gift brings their contribution to the university to about $3.8 million.
Jerry Fields, is founder, chairman and chief executive officer of J.D. Fields & Co., a worldwide supplier of steel and carbonate steel products headquartered in Houston, with regional offices in Dallas, Tulsa, New Orleans, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles and Guadalajara, Mexico.
Linda Gregg Fields is a 1966 graduate of Texas State and a native San Marcan.
