Tickets on sale for sorority’s ‘Something for the Sistas’ event


Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s Phi Xi Omega alumni chapter is hosting the “Something for the Sistas” event at the Boys & Girls Club, 400 Uhland Road, on Saturday, May 2.

The program, targeting  young girls and women 12-18 years old, runs 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The  purpose is to educate and foster fellowship among young women to achieve awareness in key target areas making it relevant to the daily lives of the young women.

This year’s agenda includes the following:

  • The Total Package: Dressing for success/personal hygiene
  • Making Sense of Money: Economic Empowerment/Money Management
  • Putting your best face forward: Make-up and hair session
  • Loved to Death: Domestic violence among youth
  • Keynote speaker Michael Lockwood, author of “Women have all the Power, Too bad they don’t know it”.
