NWS predicts brief freeze, keeps wildfire warning

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a special weather statement for Hays County this morning, warning of a brief and light freeze in low lying parts of the Hill Country on Monday and Tuesday.

Another cold front has been pushing its way through the area, bringing winds gusting up to 15-25 miles-per-hour. The NWS predicts that lows tonight will reach into the 30-40 degree range, and briefly dip into freezing temperatures early Tuesday morning.

The freeze is only expected in valleys and other low-lying areas, however, residents are advised to protect plants or tender vegetation.

The dry and windy conditions are still posing a significant wildfire threat, and Hays County remains under a Red Flag Warning until 10 p.m. this evening.
