The San Marcos High School (SMHS) University Interscholastic League (UIL) Academic Team competed in a district meet last weekend, and was named the 2009 UIL Academic District Champion Runners Up.
“The students did a remarkable job,” said Academic Coordinator Layce Odam. “How great it is to have SMHS succeed in an academic arena. Special thanks goes out to all the coaches who helped make this happen.”
Odam also said that the SMHS Speech and Debate Team was named District Champion, and every member of the team will advance to the regional competition, held on April 24-25.
