The Texas State women’s golf team finished in the middle of a 15-team field at the Brigham Young Dixie Classic in St. George, UT, this week, coming in eighth with a three-round score of 942.
Gabby De Reuck led the Bobcats with a 226, matching her season best with a one-under 71 in the first round. De Reuck followed with rounds of 78 and 77 for an eighth-place individual finish.
The University of Denver controlled the field by 29 strokes with an 870 three-round total. Dawn Shockley and Eddie Givens took first and second places individually to lead the 16th-ranked Pioneers. Shockley fired an even-par 216 while Givens finished with a 221.
Colorado State (899) claimed the second-place team award, while Florida (915), Washington (924) and San Diego State (932) rounded out the top five teams.
Following De Reuck for the Bobcats, Adin Stromgren shot a career-best tournament score of 231, keyed by a 73 on the final round, to finish in 22nd place. Sydney Liles tied for 35th place after carding rounds of 80-81-78 for a 239. Caitlin Bliss tied for 55th place with rounds of 83-84-80 (247) and Trine Mortensen completed the Bobcat line-up tied for 66th-place. Mortensen shot an 84-83-88 for a 255 tournament score.
The Bobcats will have one final tune-up before the Southland Conference Championships when they travel to the Canes and Cards Classic on April 6 in Miami Lakes, FL.
The Southland Conference Tournament is scheduled for April 20-22 in Kinder, LA.
