San Marcos war widow on ABC news tonight

The American Widow Project, co-founded by San Marcos resident Taryn Davis, will be featured on ABC World News with Charles Gibson at 5:30 p.m. tonight.

After losing her husband, Cpl. Michael Davis of San Marcos, in Iraq she and other war widows started the project, which visits military towns to offer support to the growing number of women who lost husbands in Iraq or Afghanistan.

“I really believe if we can lessen the pain and lessen the grief that just one widow can go through, then we are accomplishing our mission,” Davis told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff.

Taryn Davis, right, Shannon Williford, center, and Nicole Hart, left, who lost their husbands to the war in Iraq, gather at the memorial service for Davis’ husband, Cpl.. Michael Davis, in San Marcos, Texas. Davis and Hart launched the American Widow Project’s road trip with a ceremony, surrounded by widows, veterans groups and Mayor Susan Narvaiz.

  1. I knew Taryn when she was still a Guerrero, and while I am saddened about her loss, I am very proud of her. She is a fantastic person, and I sincerely hope that the American Widow Project continues to touch the lives of war widows across the country.
