Sewell drowning victim identified

The man who drowned in Sewell Park on March 20, has been identified as Tam Mhin Tran, a 24-year-old Texas State student.

Tran was last seen swimming in Sewell Park. An onlooker discovered him at the bottom of water that was 10-12 feet deep. Efforts to resuscitate Tran at the scene were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead later that afternoon at Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC).

Tran, a junior, was majoring in mathematics, with a minor in computer science. A resident of Comanche Hills Apartments, Tran enrolled at Texas State in fall 2008 after transferring from Galveston College. He graduated from Ball High School in Galveston.
