Bowling event raises $2,000 for scholarships


The San Marcos Area Board of REALTORS® conducted the Bowl for Education Tournament on March 13 to benefit the Corporal Michael W. Davis Scholarship.

The event raised $2,000 for the scholarship with 17 teams participating. The winning team for the event was the Guntersnipes, of Great Locations Realty, consisting of Brian Torrey, Chris Torrey, Blake York, and Mike MacCready.

Sponsors for the event were: Capital Choice Financial Services, Phillips Property Inspections, TCOR Insurance, Bank of America Mortgage, San Marcos Title Company, Hurt Real Estate, Bill and Brenda Damron, James Walker – Keller Williams, Conley Carwash, Planet San Marcos, Health Markets, and Matt Patterson Insurance.

The selection of this year’s scholarship recipient will be conducted in the next few weeks, with the presentation being held at the San Marcos CISD annual awards event.

  1. Good to see the business community leading by being part of creating solutions. The easy path would be to sit on their hands and say that because of a downturn in business activity they do not have funds for good causes in our community. I did not know Corporal Davis but I am sure he will would be honored by this good work.
