With weeks now passed since Gheng Wheng’s mysterious taxicab death, Kyle police are releasing photos of man a they say may be the only one who knows what happened to the University of Texas student.

Picked up in downtown Austin early Valentines Day, the two were passing through Kyle en route to San Marcos when Wheng either jumped or fell from the backseat of the moving vehicle. After flagging down a Hays County sheriffs deputy, the cab driver continued to San Marcos where he dropped off the other man, who has not been heard from since.

A series of photos released by authorities were taken by a private surveillance camera on the 1300 block of Lavaca Street, near where the two hailed a cab about 3 a.m. Feb. 14. Police say the man is Hispanic, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a light build.

People with information are asked to contact Kyle police detective Jacob Luria at (512) 268-3232.
