Texas State concert series celebrates Bob Wills

There are few things more quintessentially Texan than the music of Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. Thanks to the Supple Music Series at Texas State, students and the public have a chance to step into yesteryear and celebrate the life and work of the Western Swing icon.

Austin-based Lone Star Swing will perform at the LBJ Student Center Auditorium on Mar 6 at 7 p.m. with guest musicians Rick McRae and Terry Hale of George Strait’s Ace in the Hole band.

Specializing in Western Swing, Lone Star Swing will also be joined by original Texas Playboys Johnny Gamble, Herb Remington, Louise Rowe and Johnny Cuviello.

The event, also sponsored by the College of Fine Arts and Communication and the University Encore Performing Arts Series, is free and open to the public. For more information, call Elizabeth McDonald at (512) 245-3501.
