Their names appear, along with that of Narvaiz’s husband Mike Narvaiz, on a list of more than 600 early supporters of the senator as she prepares to challenge Gov. Rick Perry in 2010. The winner of the Republican Party primary will likely face either former comptroller John Sharp or Houston Mayor Bill White, both Democrats who have announced their intention to run.
Said Narvaiz, “I believe she has done great things for Texas and has definitely been an asset for San Marcos. It’s the first statewide campaign I’ve been involved in because I think she is an excellent public servant.”
Hutchison has successfully carried the city’s requests for earmarks in recent years including $10 million in federal money won for the Wonder World Drive extension, which is currently under construction.
