Dorothy Lucille Rudisill passed away peacefully on Jan. 29, surrounded by her loving family.
Dorothy was born in New Braunfels on Oct. 19, 1932 to Ottmar and Elfrieda Schwarzlose. She worked at Simon Bakery for over twenty years and became a talented cake decorator. She also worked at Hillside Manor for eighteen years.
Dorothy took great delight in her role as a grandmother. She was known as “Granny” to her four grandchildren and many “adopted” grandchildren, all now heartbroken by her absence. She never missed her grandchildren’s activities. She also shared her love of animals with each of them and they made numerous trips to zoos, wildlife parks, Aquarena Springs, fairs and rodeos.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing Mexican Train, listening to country music, especially George Strait, meeting people and watching soap operas with her little dog, Rhett. She will be greatly missed and best remembered for her unconditional love, bear hugs, beautiful birthday cakes, cooking, her sense of humor and generous heart.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Ottmar and Elfrieda Schwarzlose, son, Dennis Wayne Rudisill and son-in-law, Jeff Curry.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Dorothy Lynn Rudisill; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Paula Rudisill; grandchildren, Stacy Rudisill, DJ Monteilh, Ashlee Rudisill and Lindsay Rudisill; aunt, Catherine Rheinlander; extended family, Pat and Orv Lund, Lorraine Owens, Dana Owens, Zoe Davenport and Judy Watts.
Serving as pallbearers will be DJ Monteilh, G.E., Brandon and Trey Smith, Dale Damm and Bryan Rodriguez.
