The second in a series of public meetings to explain the new Animal Ordinance in San Marcos will be held Monday, January 26 at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins. The public is invited to attend.
The program will also be televised live on Time Warner Channel 10 and Grande Channel 16 and video-streamed on the City’s web site.
A third public session will be held Saturday, February 7, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. In addition, the Animal Services Advisory Board has postponed its meeting until February to schedule a public hearing following the last educational session. The date and location will be announced.
The City Council adopted an updated Animal Ordinance in December which will take effect on April 1.
The Animal Services staff is holding the public meetings in January and February before the new ordinance takes effect to help residents understand the new rules.

The ordinance was recommended by the Animal Services Advisory Board after several months of review. The City of San Marcos contracts with Hays County and Kyle to support the San Marcos Animal Shelter, expanded last year to take in animals from across Hays County.Email | Print
