Hays County residents woke up this morning to dense fog blanketing most of the Hill Country, and a multitude of traffic accidents because of it.
“There was 15 accidents before 10:30 this morning,” said Mike Thiemen with the Hays County Sheriff’s Office. “We were hit pretty hard.”
San Marcos was spared from any major fog related accidents though visibility was limited to roughly half a mile in the city this afternoon.
“We had two minor accidents with no injuries”, said Melissa Millecam, Director of Communications for the City of San Marcos. “We escaped with great luck.”
In Kyle authorities recorded 8 vehicle accidents. “Three of those are considered major,” said Jerry Hendrix with the City of Kyle. “Two of the major ones required medical assistance and the other blocked two lanes of traffic.”
There is currently no report on any local fatalities resulting from these accidents, though motorists are advised to use caution.
The National Weather Service issued a warning at 12:15 pm today for possible continued dense fog until tomorrow morning.
