Oswalt named general manager of new arena football team

The Austin Turfcats announced that Ronald Oswalt has been named vice president and general manager of Austin’s newest indoor football franchise of the Southern Indoor Football League.

“I’m thrilled about the opportunity that (Turfcats President/CEO Albert Martinez) has given me to be able to help the Turfcats organization reach their goal of putting the best team possible on the turf every night and bringing home a championship in 2009,” said Oswalt. “I look forward to working with the Turfcats organization and I know that together we’ll do everything possible to make that happen.”

Oswalt will handle the team’s operations and day-to-day media operations and assist in marketing the team in the central Texas area.Oswalt will also work with area schools in the Turfcats Adopt-A-School program that will assist area students.

A San Marcos resident and graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, Ronald Oswalt has worked over 15 years in marketing and public relations. His photos have also been featured on several sports websites over the last few years.

Oswalt is very active in the community serving as an ambassador with the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce and on the Board of Directors for the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

He is supported by his wife Machel and his two boys Aubrey 16, and Hayden 7, with all family members looking forward to the Inaugural Turfcats football season.

Oswalt has worked for the Katy Copperheads of the National Indoor Football League, Texas Copperheads of the af2, and the Beaumont Drillers of the American Professional Football League his new duties with the Austin Turfcats will be effective immediately.
