The San Marcos City Council is seeking volunteers to serve on 27 City boards and commissions for terms beginning in 2009. The initial deadline to apply is November 12 at 5 p.m. at the City Clerk’s office, though applications are accepted on a continuing basis.The City Council will discuss appointments at a workshop on Tuesday, November 18 from 5 – 7 p.m. and is scheduled to make appointments December 16.
Board information and application forms are available at the City Clerk’s office at City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins. On line applications are available at www.ci.san-marcos.tx.us . Volunteers may fax their completed forms to the City Clerk at 396-1576.
Most boards and commissions have staggered terms, so only some members will be reappointed for 2009. Duties and qualifications, including residency, vary according to the purpose of each board.
City Clerk Sherry Mashburn will compile all the applications and provide them to the City Council members for next week’s workshop.
In December the City Council will make the appointments formally. The annual Board Reception will be held at the Activity Center in January with an orientation session for new volunteers.
