Boil Water Advisory

Due to conditions which have occurred recently in the water system, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption.Affected Areas: 1503 – 1803 River Road, including River Ridge Apartments

Water in this area will be shut off on Tuesday, 11/11/08 from 9am – 4pm in order to repair a water line. When water service is resumed, we ask that you follow the guidelines in the boil water notice below.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for three minutes. In lieu of boiling you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.

Boiling water will be advised as of when water service resumes on Tuesday, Nov. 11th. Water samples will be taken at that time and will take at least 24 hours to process.

We anticipate receiving test results showing that water is safe to drink by 5pm on Wednesday, Nov. 12th. At that time, boiling will no longer be necessary unless notified otherwise.

This is a precautionary measure. A Boil Water Advisory does not necessarily mean that your water is contaminated, only that there is a possibility of contamination due to lack of pressure in the main lines for an extended period.

If you have questions regarding this matter, you may contact Water/Wastewater Utilities at #393-8010.
