San Marcos Chamber of Commerce to host online auction

“Going once . . . going twice . . . SOLD!” What do you think of when you hear those words? Yes, that’s right-an auction! The chance for members of the community to be involved in an auction is available thanks to the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce. However, the auction is a little different in that you won’t hear a man shouting out bids at a rate of at least 100 miles per hour, because, this auction is online. The online portion of the auction is open now and can be accessed by going to the following website: and is scheduled to run from October 14th until November 3rd. Items being auctioned are anything from tickets to local sporting events (San Antonio Spurs!), gift items, spa packages, vacation getaways, and more!

The live event, called the “San Marcos Chamber’s Fall Awards Gala Auction” will take place on Thursday, November 6th. This special, live Gala experience will be held at the “City of San Marcos Conference Center”, located next to the brand new Embassy Suites Hotel and Spa.

Phyllis Snodgrass, President of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce said, “The Gala is an opportunity for Chamber members to learn how the last year went, see what is in store for the coming year and to celebrate the many great volunteers that work so hard to make our community a great place to live.”

The Gala, according to Snodgrass, not only celebrates the success of the previous year, but it also gives the chance to recognize the change of a new Chairman of the Board, prepares for the upcoming year, and gives honor to the people who helped make the year a success. The “Ambassador of the Year”, “Chairman’s Award” and “Business of the Year” are just a few of the awards that will be handed out.

A Gala would not be complete without food and music, The group “Jazz, Blues and Diamonds” will perform throughout the evening, and Professional motivational speaker and author of “Pushing Forward-A Memoir of Motivation”, Randy Snow, will be “…sure to motivate and inspire”, said Snodgrass. Randy Snow is the Founder of NoXQs (No Excuses) and he is also a well-known speaker for Fortune 500 companies.

When asking about the purpose of the auction and Gala, Snodgrass said, “The annual Gala is one of the premier fundraisers of the Chamber. Funds raised help support the many community development efforts the Chamber engages in throughout the year.”

Be a part of the event by getting on your computer and auctioning online or by going to the Gala event on November 6th.
