The public is invited to the dedication of a new bronze Bobcat sculpture at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, on the Quad on the Texas State University-San Marcos campus.The statue was installed Monday, Oct. 13, between the Taylor Murphy Building and the Psychology Building. It will be unveiled and dedicated on Saturday.
Texas State University President Denise M. Trauth and representatives of the Associated Student Government will participate in the dedication ceremony.
The statue was commissioned by the Associated Student Government and it was created by noted sculptor Matthew Palmer of Friday Harbor, Washington.
Saturday is homecoming at Texas State and those attending the dedication of the Bobcat mascot statue are encouraged to wear game day attire. The Texas State Bobcats will play the University of Central Arkansas Bears in the homecoming football game at 3 p.m. in Bobcat Stadium.

I find it a little disturbing that a Texas State School has contracted a Sculpture of their Mascot with an Artist that is not a Texas based Sculptor… I would think with all the Qualified Texas based artist and Alumni, that the school would try to keep the project in the State.. It great to see us support other economic areas..
