Going on the road to Arlington last Saturday, the Texas State volleyball team accomplished its mission with some difficulty, returning home with a five-set win against Texas-Arlington.
The closely contested match saw the Bobcats win by scores of 25-17, 25-22, 24-26, 22-25 and 15-12.
The Bobcats began the match by hitting better than .300 in the first two sets, but finished the five-set affair with an overall hitting average of .207. The Bobcats made 19 errors in the third and fourth sets, allowing UTA to climb back into it.
Emily Jones Wilkes finished the match with 20 kills and three assists for Texas State, while Jessica Weynand double-doubled for the third straight time with 14 kills and 12 digs.
The Bobcats improved to 11-12 overall and 4-1 in the Southland. The Bobcats are tied with Lamar on top of the league’s West Division. UTA is 0-5 and 4-15, last place in the Southland West.
