Lace up your running or walking shoes because Pet Prevent a Litter of Central Texas (PALS) is hosting the first ever Texas Fix ‘Em 5K run and walk on Saturday, September 27 at City Park Pavilion in San Marcos. The fun will start at 8:00 a.m. and will continue until Noon. In addition to a 5K race, there will also be a kid’s fun run, and a pledge walk. Well behaved leashed dogs are also welcome to also attend the festivities. Following the morning’s physical activities, the fun will continue with owner/pet look-alike, best pet from a rescue or shelter, cutest pet, and best pet costume contests.
All proceeds from the day will benefit PALS, a non-profit organization which helps provide vouchers for free spay and neuter surgeries for the companion cats and dogs of those in need in Hays county and the surrounding area.
The entry fee to race or walk is $16 in advance or $20 day of event, which includes a free t-shirt to the first 250 people who pre-register, as well as entry into the pet contests. Awards will be given to the top three places in various age divisions for the race and prizes will be distributed to the top individual and team earners for the pledge walk. Participants are also asked to bring a donation of cat food, which will be donated to the trap, neuter and return (TNR) program at Texas State University.
Racers and teams for the pledge walk are encouraged to sign up today. Register online at https://www.signmeup.com/61535 or download the registration from http://www.preventalitter.com/events.html.
