PPCP celebrates 25 years in the community

This year the Presbyterian Parent’s Cooperative Preschool (PPCP) is proudly celebrating twenty-five years in the San Marcos community. On Saturday November 15th we are holding a PPCP 25th Reunion Celebration in honor of this landmark anniversary. We would like to extend an invitation to everyone in the community who is interested in learning more about our preschool and are specifically interested in making contact with past PPCP families. We are in the process of researching our history and would love to obtain copies of any photos, documents, articles, etc. that chronicle the Coop’s journey. We are also starting an Alumni database and are in desperate need of updated contact information.

The Coop was first founded in 1983 by Mary Erwin (then Dardas). She also served as the first director and board chairman. Since it’s inception, the Coop has continually embodied the spirit of uniting education and community.

Twenty-five years ago, with the help and combined efforts of the First Presbyterian Church’s staff and congregation along with the founding families of the Coop, we opened our doors in three rooms upstairs in the church. For our first five years this space served as home. During the 1989-90 school year the Coop moved to our current location at 323 Mary St

In the PPCP’s twenty-five years, hundreds of families have been members of the Coop. While PPCP has greatly benefited from it’s relationship with, and blessings of, the First Presbyterian Church, the families comprising the Coop through out the years have represented varied religious backgrounds.

This Fall in celebration of it’s 25th Anniversary the Coop is focusing on updating the schoolhouse and, along with it, our educational program. As is tradition, past and current families, as well as volunteers and businesses from the community have donated countless hours of time and much needed resources helping us to achieve our goal.

We would like to thank the following for their generous contributions; First Presbyterian Church, Greg Mitchell Painting, Dupont Cabinetry & Design, McGlothlin Carpet, Eve and Donald Hall, Euro Cleaning and Handyman Services, Lowes, and past and current families of the PPCP.

For details about the 25th Reunion or to reconnect with the Coop please contact Laura Dupont at 392.3553 or leave a message at the preschool 353.8325.
