Limon and Soto lead Freshman White over Bastrop

The freshman white team opened their home schedule versus the Bastrop Bears and it was no picnic for the Bears as they fell 28-6. The White Rattlers won the toss and never looked back, they scored first on a Brandon Limon 5-yard touchdown run with 2:33 left in the first quarter. The Rattlers held the ball for over seven minutes in the long opening scoring drive. The PAT conversion run by Gaige Musick was no good.

However, Jared Vandeoff connected with John Ramirez on a 65-yard touchdown pass to tie the game on their first offensive play from scrimmage for the Bears to tie the game 6-6.

The first quarter would end on an Aubrey Oswalt 38-yard punt to give the Bears possession to start the second quarter against a tough Rattler defense. The Rattlers would get possession on the next play as Santiago Soto would pull down an interception for the home team. However, an Adrian Narvaiz pass would be intercepted in the end zone by the Bears to kill the offensive drive with 4:23 left in the game. Narvaiz rebounded well after the interception to lead the team.

C.J. Tichelli would recover a Bears muffed punt at the Rattlers 1-yard line and Limon would add his second touchdown of the first half to push the rattlers lead to 12-6 as he would be stopped on the PAT. Will Obrien would put a sack on the Bears offense to end the first half in the Snake Pit.

Limon would recover a Bears fumble with 5:27 left in the third quarter. He became a one man wrecking crew as he would add his third touchdown of the game on an 18-yard pitch from Quarterback Adrian Narvaiz with 1:08 left in the third quarter for an 18-6 lead. Santiago Soto added the two-point conversion from the right side for a 20-6 lead.

Soto would intercept the Bears and return it for 47 yards to the 7-yard line. Quarterback Aubrey Oswalt would quick pitch to his right to Soto for a 14-yard run with 2:21 left in the game and Soto added the two-point PAT for a 28-6 victory. The freshman white Rattlers move to 1-1 on the season, next week they travel to Lampasas.
