CALDWELL COUNTY — Shortly after 8:00 a.m. Thursday morning a gas line at the Oasis Natural Gas Plant exploded. The explosion occurred roughly two miles from the Prairie Lea school district building and eyewitnesses have claimed to have been able to see the fireball from miles away. Despite the size of the explosion, there are no reports of injuries.
Fire departments from several surrounding jurisdictions are on hand to assist with rerouting of traffic and safety related to the ongoing danger. Reportedly several homes in the area have been evacuated as a precaution while officials wait for the fire to burn itself out. All shutoff valves have been closed, but the fire is expected to take several hours to exhausted the gas in the lines.
