BUDA – Following the city’s false start with city manager preference Jennifer Tubbs, Buda is bringing in two other candidates for interviews at the end of this month.
The city announced Wednesday that Kenneth Williams, the city manager of Diboll, and Robert Schaumleffel, the former city manager of Creedmoor, NC, are coming to town on July 31 to meet briefly with citizens and be interviewed by the city council.
The pubic reception will take place on July 31 at City Hall from 6-7 p.m.
Williams has been the city manager in Diboll since July 2006 after seven years on the administrative staff in Lufkin. Diboll, located in the heart of the East Texas piney woods, is an Angelina County city with 5,470 residents on the 2000 Census.
Creedmoor, where Schaumleffel used to be city manager, is located in north central North Carolina with a population of 2,232 on the 2000 Census.
Following a round of interviews with four finalists in late June, the Buda City Council selected Tubbs, the township manager of Watertown, MI. However, Tubbs declined the city’s offer, saying she wanted a one-year housing allowance to keep her afloat if she were to put her Michigan house on the market.
The city has been looking for a new city manager since Robert Camareno resigned in February to take a position in New Braunfels, his hometown.Email | Print
