Police Seek Leads in Assault of Child

San Marcos police continue to search for leads in the burglary and sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl Saturday that occurred when a burglar entered her home Saturday morning.

Police Commander Terry Nichols confirmed Monday that the child was sexually assaulted by the suspect, who is still at large.

The man was described as wearing blue jeans, a white shirt and a white hoodie type mask. He was last seen walking down Knox Street.

“We are looking for any tips we might be able to get from the community,” said Nichols.

Anyone with information is urged to call San Marcos Police at 512-753-2108 or call Crime Stoppers at 353-TIPS or 1-800-324-8477.

According to Nichols, officers responded to the residence at 6:29 a.m. to investigate a burglary and assault of a child. They determined that at approximately 6:20 a.m. an unidentified male suspect entered the residence through a door that was not properly working.

The suspect brandished a long barreled weapon believed to be a shotgun and then assaulted an elementary aged child. A parent and sibling were asleep in the residence at the time of the assault. There were no life-threatening injuries to the victim.
