The four-story building on Wonder World Drive would not stand today as the core of Central Texas Medical Center if it were not for the founding members of the CTMC Foundation.

In 1983, the foundation founders helped raised nearly $1 million to help build the facility. The original foundation founders consist of Stanley Ault, DDS, Richard Burdick, Ann Cauthorn, Eleanor Crook, Frank Gordon, Bruce Harper, H.C. Kyle, III, Emmet McCoy and Van Rea, M.D.

Tuesday evening the foundation invited its founders back to where it all began for a private dinner reception in their honor. While enjoying a delectable meal and a chance to reconnect with old friends, the honorees and their guests were entertained with a presentation by chief executive officer and president Gary Jepson. The presentation highlighted the advancements the hospital has made over the past 25 years and outlined future plans for expansion and new technologies.

“It was a pleasure to see all of the people who helped make this hospital what it is today,” said Jepson. “We greatly appreciated everything they’ve done for CTMC and our community.”

Following the presentation, each of the founders was presented with a special memento commemorating the true roots of the CTMC Health Ministry: a replica of the 1923 Hays County Soldiers, Sailors and Marines Memorial Hospital.

The evening also served as an opportunity to inform the group that they will be formerly recognized at the CTMC Foundation’s 16th annual Stars of Texas Gala.

This year’s gala will take place Oct. 12 at the Hilton Austin. In addition to the founders’ recognition, the night will include gourmet dining, live and silent auctions and entertainment by Asleep at the Wheel. For more information or to purchase a seat or a table at the gala, or to make a donation, call the Foundation office (512) 753-3687 or email Jerilyn.Miller@ahss.org.
