From the city of San Marcos
The city of San Marcos is soliciting sealed bids for the sale and removal of a homestead at 2102 Hunter Road, located at the intersection of Hunter Road and Wonder World Drive.
The sale and removal of the buildings is one of the first steps in beginning construction of the much anticipated Wonder World Drive Extension Project.
Built around 1900, the house belonged for many years to Dr. Ben Primer and his family. During its glory days, the property, which was used to raise horses and cattle, included a guest house, a workshop, a detached 2-car garage, and a pool.
Most recently the home was owned by a group of investors from San Antonio until the city purchased the property in 2007 for the construction of the Wonder World Drive Extension Project.
“The property has seen better days. However, in keeping with the city’s effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle, we hope that this house will be relocated or, at the very least, its building materials salvaged for reuse,” said Sabas Avila, the interim engineering and environment department director.
The city will be taking bids for four buildings:
- Building #1: (Shown above) is the main house, 3 bedroom, 1 bath, 1.5 story, wood structure on pier and beam, approximately 1,875 sq ft.
- Building #2: a guest house, 1 bedroom/1 bath, 1 story, wood structure on slab, approximately 1,034 sq. ft.
- Building #3: is a detached garage, 2 car, on a slab, approximately 410 sq. ft. and
- Building #4: is a workshop, 1 story wooden structure on a slab, approximately 420 sq. ft.
