Fire damages apartments

One apartment was severely damaged and another suffered smoke damage in a fire Tuesday evening at the Verandah Apartments, 1805 N. I35.

No one was injured in the blaze, which broke out about 6:13 p.m. Tuesday. A first floor apartment in Building 29 was extensively damaged and the apartment above suffered minor smoke damage, said Fire Chief Mike Baker.

“Our guys made a great stop by putting out the fire before it spread,” said Chief Baker.

The Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire. Residents of the two apartments were relocated by the complex.
