From Central Texas Medical Center
Central Texas Medical Center has launched Day One Recovery Program, an outpatient chemical dependency program that reaches out to individuals who are 18 years-old or older and suffer from addiction. The program strives to assist participants by building caring partnerships with everyone involved in their lives. Group sessions take place three times a week for six weeks from 6-9p.m. Upon admission, each individual will interact with mental health professionals and other group members.
Dr. Frank Floca, MD, a board certified psychiatrist is serving as the new Medical Director of Day One and the Heritage Program, CTMC’s other behavioral health service. He will be overseeing both programs and evaluating patients to identify the most beneficial form of treatment. Dr. Floca brings 29 years of experience to the program.
Yvonne Perez, M.A., LPC, NCC, formerly of the Hays Caldwell Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, is the licensed therapist overseeing the program. Perez brings 10 years of experience of working with those troubled by addiction. She will guide participants as they learn proven steps to assist them in overcoming their dependency. Stress management, conflict resolution, positive living skills and coping skills are some of several healthy living tools that are taught and encouraged throughout Day One.
“My experience has taught me that nothing is more important than the person’s attitude and willingness,” said Perez. “It is my expectation that Day One will provide those who have a positive attitude and willingness a great opportunity to make a change in their life.”
Day One is the latest addition to CTMC’s Behavioral Health Services and builds upon the popular Heritage Program for Senior Adults, which helps older adults overcome debilitating depression through a structured group therapy program.
Day One welcomes anyone who believes they may benefit from the services offered. Also, anyone can refer patients to the program. However, assistance will only be offered to individuals who seek it.
