On May 28, 2008, pre-schoolers in the San Marcos Family Learning Center (Even Start) were treated to a visit by a big, red fire engine and all the San Marcos Fire Department staff who man it. The firefighters talked to the toddlers about fire safety, calling 9-1-1 in case of an emergency, and about their jobs at the fire station. Everyone received red plastic firefighter hats at the conclusion of the program, and some lucky students got to explore inside the truck’s cab.
