The American Marketing Association chapter at Texas State University-San Marcos finished second overall in the AMA Case competition during the 30th Annual AMA International Collegiate Conference held recently in New Orleans, La.
Texas State was one of eight finalists from a field of 56 entries in the AMA Case competition. This year’s client was McGraw-Hill, and the task was to develop a complete marketing campaign to help McGraw-Hill Higher Education develop and promote an online e-commerce portal to college students. At the meeting, each of the eight finalists made a formal presentation to the client who determined the final rankings. First place was awarded to the University of Pennsylvania.
The Texas State AMA chapter received many other accolades during the conference. Based on the submitted chapter plan and annual report, Texas State was recognized as “Outstanding Chapter.” This honor acknowledges Texas State as one of the top 16 chapters internationally.
Texas State also received third place in the website competition, viewable at www.business.txstate.edu/ama. The Texas State chapter was also recognized for receiving a $1,000 community service grant from the American Marketing Association Foundation to increase students’ awareness of the United Way.
The AMA International Collegiate Conference is designed to provide the ultimate marketing experience for students, including professional guest speakers, a career fair and networking opportunities. The American Marketing Association is one of the largest professional associations for marketers and has more than 38,000 members worldwide in every area of marketing. There are more than 300 student AMA chapters from schools in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
