Adding to the proud tradition of San Marcos High School, last night at the District 25 5A Track meet, the Lady Runnin Rattlers were able to qualify 5 young ladies to the Regional meet. Leading the way was senior Melissa Neal, who qualified in 3 events. Melissa Placed 3rd in the 100m dash, 2nd in the 200m dash and 3rd in the 400m dash.
Also qualifying for Regionals was sophomore Gina Misiaszek in the 400m dash with a 2nd place finish. However, the most amazing thing happened in the night’s final event, the Mile Relay. Coming into the competition, the fastest time the girls had run this year was 4:20. In one of the most spectacular races in a long time, the foursome of Freshman Katryn Walpole, Soph. Gina Misiaszek, Soph. Meghan Rodriquez and Freshman Solana Dever placed 1st, winning the event in 4:08. This incredible feat shatters their previous best. Congratulations to these special, hardworking athletes.
