Retired teachers make donation to Books for Kids

Phill Brown, president of the San Marcos Association of Retired Teachers, presents a check for books to Ronda Stonecipher, coordinator for the San Marcos school district’s Reading is Fundamental program. Funds donated locally are matched by the national Reading is Fundamental organization. The donation, for an undisclosed amount, placed 60 books in the hands of San Marcos school district students. The “Books for Kids” project is undertaken by most of the local chapters of the Texas Retired Teachers Association. Last year, 69,553 books were donated to students in Texas schools.
