P&Z holding hearing on big-ticket capital improvement program

From the city of San Marcos

City planners are inviting residents to offer their suggestions for major capital improvement projects for the San Marcos community.

The planning and zoning commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. to take citizen comments on potential projects for the capital improvements program. Capital improvements are defined as major public facilities such as streets, drainage, airport, electric, water/ wastewater utilities, parks & recreation, public buildings, and public safety.

In addition to the public hearing at planning and zoning, city planners invite residents, organizations and civic groups to submit written requests for projects they would like the city to pursue. The requests may include new projects or endorsements of projects currently listed in the 10-year capital improvement program.

Written comments may be sent by email to Chance Sparks, Senior Planner, at sparks_chance@ci.san-marcos.tx.us or mailed to Chance Sparks, Planning and Development Services, 630 E. Hopkins, San Marcos, TX 78666. Written comments should be sent by 5 p.m. March 7, 2008.

Information on the 10-year CIP is available on the city’s Web site.
