Food distribution center could bring 250 jobs to corridor

The Hays County Free Press:

The nation’s second largest foodservice distributor is shopping for a site in Hays County.

Columbia, Md.-based U.S. Foodservice Inc. is in the market for 40 acres of raw land with plans to construct a 250,000-square foot warehouse and distribution center, said Susan Harris, head of the Austin-based Site Solutions, Inc., the commercial real estate firm that is leading the search.

Sources say the company is focusing its search on properties near IH-35 in Buda and Kyle.

  1. I wonder how many semi-trucks a day this facility will put on an already congested I-35? And we get 250 jobs out of it? Would those be minium-wage jobs or otherwise? I can’t just jump for joy over this one without more details. Wish I knew more about this…
