City’s annual survey hitting mailboxes

The city of San Marcos will mail out the 2008 Community Outreach Survey January 15 to approximately 3,346 utility customers to learn how residents rate the city’s performance in a wide variety of services.

One in five utility customers will be asked to fill out the survey and return it by February 15 in the postage paid envelope. The survey is written in English and Spanish. The survey allows city officials to measure community concerns, progress in solving problems, and views about specific issues. This is the eighth year that the city has conducted the outreach survey.

Dr. Hassan Tajalli, Associate Professor of Political Science at Texas State University, will analyze the responses and provide a report to the city.

“The annual survey is very helpful in measuring how we are doing,” said Collette Jamison, Interim city Manager. “We share the results with our departments, the city Council, and the public so that we can continue to improve our service to the community.”

The survey asks residents to grade the quality of services, priorities for managing growth, and their top three priorities for the community. If residents score a service below a “good,” they are asked to explain why they rated the service low.

For information, contact Stephanie Garcia, assistant to the city manager, at 512-393-8100.
