Snow, ice, cause car wrecks, shut down city

Snow and ice covered the roads in and around San Marcos late Thursday night and Friday morning, forcing schools and government offices to close while many private concerns either opened late or stay closed. More cold temperatures Friday night are expected to cause a re-freezing of the roadways, which saw about 100 small wrecks Thursday night.
