The nonprofit Hays County Food Bank was established in 1984 today helps feed an average of about 18,000 people in Hays County yearly. While many of their services come about because of volunteering and donations, another group helps the food bank: community partners, the small businesses in Hays County which provide for the food bank.

Hays County commissioners and San Marcos council members recently allocated a combined $70,000 to the Hays County Food Bank and proclaimed October as “Turkeys Tackling Hunger” month.

In the spirit of holiday giving, Miller Middle School's National Honor Society collected toys and money for turkey dinners. The Miller students also collected money for the Hays County Food Bank.
