After months of dispute, Hays County Commissioners passed new development regulations Tuesday. A six-acre minimum lot size for new subdivisions served by individual private water wells and located in the Hill Country Priority Groundwater Management Area (PGMA) was too small for water conservation advocates and too large for private property rights advocates.

County officials, along with engineers, will hold a meeting on March 5 to discuss how groundwater availability will affect future lot sizes in Hays County.
