On the edge of night: Preserving the night skies of the Texas Hill Country

Much of the Texas Hill Country still has night skies dark enough to see the Milky Way, but satellite images of the United States at night show a massive swath of brightly glowing yellow and white dots — light pollution — from the East Coast to Central Texas.

International group to gather under Dripping Springs’ ‘dark sky’

The first city in Texas designated as an official “Dark Sky Community” will play host on Friday, Aug. 15 to the International Dark-Sky Association’s annual conference.
