Incumbent John Thomaides and home builder Ryan Thomason were solidly in the lead of their respective San Marcos City Council races in early voting results released at the close of polls at 7 p.m.

Council gives first nod to compensation

The San Marcos City Council approved the first of two readings for council compensation Tuesday night in a 4-3 vote. Under the measure, councilmembers would receive $500 per month and the mayor would receive $750 per month.
