Art historian Julie Agar will discuss the Unicorn tapestries on display at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in the first of two lectures on the arts offered this week at the New Braunfels Public Library.

Titled “The Hunt of the Unicorns,” the collection IS among the most popular attractions at The Cloisters, which houses part of The Met’s collection from medieval Europe. Little is known about their early history, though the seven hangings are thought to have been designed in Paris and woven in Brussels between 1495 and 1505.

The tapestries are considered among the most beautiful and complex works of art to survive from the Middle Ages.
