Songwriters spanning the Cheatham Street Warehouse generations – from Marcia Ball and James McMurtry to Kevin and Dustin Welch and Owen Temple – will gather at 6:30 p.m. March 10 to celebrate Kent Finlay’s life.
The memorial service will be at Evan Auditorium on the Texas State University campus. Following the official ceremony, Finlay alumni and enthusiasts head over to Cheatham Street Warehouse, 119 Cheatham St., and swap songs all night long.
“There’s no better way to honor dad than an entire day and night of songwriters playing their songs for him. He would have been so proud,” Jenni Finlay said of Finlay, who died March 2.
The memorial service and the after party are open to the public. You never know who might show up, organizers tease.Email | Print
