Wimberley Players start off season with 'The Heiress'

The Wimberley Players open their 2011 season with the Tony Award winning play “The Heiress” Friday. The play, directed by Robert FitzGerald, is an adaption by Ruth and Augustus Goetz of the Henry James novel “Washington Square.”

'Kuda Lumping' project at library looks at Javanese tradition

The San Marcos Public Library, 625 East Hopkins Street, invites children ages five and older and their families to make an unusual craft at 10 a.m. Saturday. The one-of-a-kind crafting event will feature Fullbright scholar Nita Novianti explaining how to make “Kuda Lumping,” also called trance horse or dancing horse.

Osborne to speak at lecture series

Randall Osborne, a professor of psychology at Texas State, will be the next speaker in San Marcos Academy’s (SMA) Distinguished Lecture Series Tuesday afternoon. The lecture, “Forensic Psychology: It May Not be CSI, But it is Still Pretty Interesting!” will take place on the academy’s campus at the school library at 2 p.m. The lecture is free and the public is invited to attend.
