Perennial Dance Company performs ‘Menagerie’ at Texas State
SUBMITTED REPORT
Perennial Dance, a new modern dance company composed of Texas State University dance alums, will present “Menagerie” 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5 in Studio B178 of the Jowers Center on campus.
The relaxed and informal concert of modern dance pieces is free and open to the public. Audience members are encouraged to bring their own chairs, blankets, pillows, bean bags or other seating for the “dance picnic.”
The casual concert rips the stuffiness out of formal arts performances while keeping all the good stuff: fun, moving and brain-tickling pieces delivered in an audience-friendly format. The show will open with an improvisational dance piece, while local artist Kealy Racca creates a painting inspired by the movement as the performance unfolds. The painting will then be raffled off during intermission, with raffle tickets available for $1 each.
