15 graduate from Citizens Fire Academy

The San Marcos Fire Department recently celebrated the graduation of its first Citizens Fire Academy Class.

The program was established to acquaint the public with the fire department’s mission and operations. The 15-member group completed a 12-week course with hands-on training about fire science, first aid, ladders and hoses, swift water rescue, vehicle extrication and live fire training. Members even rappelled off the roof of Fire Station 5. A slide show and video about the course are available at www.sanmarcostx.gov.
