CrockettCrockett Elementary students tackled hunger.

STAFF REPORT

The Travis Elementary Early Act Service Club, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Greater San Marcos, raised $560 for the Hays County Food Bank’s Turkeys Tackling Hunger program.

The students, ranging in age between kindergarten and fifth grade raised the money through their change drive and “Face Painting Fridays” in less than two weeks time.

The $560 is equal to each class sponsoring one family for Thanksgiving.

The Early Act First Knight program will have an information and fund raising booth at the Sights and Sounds of Christmas. All funds raised will go directly to the program.

Meanwhile over at Crockett Elementary, the Early Act First Knight Leadership Council had a canned food drive in tandem with the school’s Turkeys Tackling Hunger program. Travis Elementary presented Hays County Food Bank’s Kate Shaw with a check for $626.26. The Early Act First Knight program collected 790 pounds of canned food for the Food Bank.

The Crockett Elementary Early Act First Knight program is sponsored by the Rotary Club of San Marcos.
