Four vie for Hays CISD interim trustee

Former Kyle City Councilmember Todd Webster is among four candidates who have filed letters of intent to serve on the Hays CISD Board of Trustees for District 2, completing the term of Joe Muñoz, who resigned in September.

Muñoz resigned his seat so he could move to a home outside of District 2, which is centered in the original part of Kyle.

Webster is the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) Chief of Staff. From 2002 to 2007, he worked as Governor Rick Perry’s Advisor for Public Education before he began a consulting practice.

The other candidates are LCRA employee Anthony Gonzales, business analyst Willie Tenorio, Jr., and transportation manager Jimmy L. Wren.

The Hays CISD trustees will interview all four candidates in open session at a special meeting on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m., in the Founders Room of the Central Administration Office. The new trustee will be sworn in at the Dec. 14 regular meeting.

The board’s selection will serve until May 2010, when that seat and two others will go up for election. Voters also will be asked to fill the seats of District 4 Trustee Ralph Pfluger, who represents the northern portions of the school district, and District 5 Trustee Chip DuPont, who represents the western region.
