SMHS continues to third round of TMEA auditions

Five of the seven members of the San Marcos High School choir participating in the Texas All-State Choir Auditons will move on to the third round of the four-step audition procees. The auditions were recently conducted at Pflugerville High School.

The students who made the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-region Choir for Region 18 are First Tenor Waylan Applewhite, Second Bass Sam Heaton, Second Bass Gabe Deleon, Second Soprano Abby Bowers and Second Soprano Katy Whitbeck.

These students will participate in the TMEA Region Choir Clinic at Westlake High School. They will continue to the Pre-Area Competion at Bowie High School on Nov. 23.

In addition, SMHS students Jackie Cantu and Myra Ehrlick were chosen to participate in the TMEA Region Ladies Honor Choir. They will also join the Region Choir Clinic at Westlake High.

Choral Director Helen Myers  said that Cantu and Ehrlich also participated in the district auditions that were hosted by SMHS in September.
